Edens/I-94 Work Complete North of Old Orchard
Overnight Work Through Mid October on South End
SCHAUMBURG – The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced that it has completed resurfacing work on the Edens Expressway/I-94 north of Old Orchard Rd., but that overnight lane closures will continue south of Old Orchard until the middle of October, weather permitting, for resurfacing, striping and shoulder work.
Overnight asphalt paving is dependent on the temperature, but drivers can expect nightly lane closures during the following hours:
- From Sunday through Thursday nights one lane will be closed at 8 p.m. and a second lane will be closed at 11 p.m, with all lanes open by 5 a.m.
- Friday and Saturday nights, one lane will be closed from 10 p.m. and two lanes will be closed at 11 p.m., with all lanes open by 9 a.m. the next morning.
The Edens Rehabilitation Project includes patching and resurfacing six bridge decks and resurfacing all three lanes of the entire length of the 14-mile expressway from Lawrence Ave. to Lake Cook Rd.
Illinois State Police will continue to actively enforce the 45 mile per hour work zone speed limit where it is posted, both for the safety of construction workers and motorists. Police are using squad cars, motorcycle patrols and mobile photo enforcement vans to patrol the work zone.
